Role :

Social Content Concept & Design

Challenge :

Mortenson has a well-established enterprise brand, but social content needs to respond to a wide range of stories, audiences, and moments. The challenge was to create posts that felt timely and distinctive while still remaining clearly recognizable as Mortenson.

Each concept needed to work within the existing brand system without becoming repetitive or overly templated.

Solution :

I developed original concepts, layouts, and visual treatments using Mortenson’s established typography, color, photography, and graphic elements as a foundation. Rather than applying the same format to every post, I adapted the visual approach to the story—ranging from employee and community features to company milestones, partnerships, recruiting, and sustainability content.

For recurring communication needs, I also developed reusable branded templates that could support future content while maintaining consistency.

My Contributions :

  • Social concept development and visual direction

  • Original layout and graphic design

  • Brand extension across varied content themes

  • Typography, photography, and image treatment

  • Carousel and multi-slide storytelling

  • Reusable social template development

Approach :

Extending the Brand Across Different Stories

I used Mortenson’s existing brand system as a flexible toolkit rather than a fixed template, creating distinct visual approaches based on the subject and audience while maintaining recognizable typography, color, photography, and graphic language.

The work ranged from employee and recruiting communications to company milestones, community stories, partnerships, and seasonal moments.

Designing for the Story

Some topics required more than a single graphic. For content such as sustainability, partnerships, and employee stories, I used multi-slide layouts and visual hierarchy to turn larger amounts of information into clear, engaging social narratives.

I also created reusable formats where appropriate, balancing consistency with enough flexibility for individual stories to feel specific to their subject.

Impact :

The work expanded Mortenson’s social creative across a wide range of company stories while maintaining a recognizable brand presence. Individual concepts could adapt to the subject and audience without losing consistency, while reusable formats supported recurring communication needs.
